Finnish Championships in middle and Suomen Cup event on Saturday 24.8.2024 and Finnish Championships in relay on Sunday 25.8.2024
Special regulations concerning Finnish Championships are stated in the orienteering rules of The Finnish Orienteering Federation, chapter 19.
Classes
Competitors born in 2010 or earlier have the right to participate in the Finnish Championships classes. On Saturday, classes H11-13 and D11-13 are organized as national competition classes outside the Finnish Championships. On Sunday, .an open relay class is organized .primarily for foreign competitors, who are not allowed to compete in the relay classes of the the Finnish Championships.
All middle classes are open for foreign competitors, but the medals will be distributed between the participants who are qualified to compete in Finnish Championship according to the orienteering rules of the Finnish Orienteering Federation. However, foreign participants have the right to receive product prices if such are given in the class in question. The competition does NOT have a WRE status.

Classes H21, D21, H20 and D20 have six (6) legs. The other classes have four (4) legs. Each team consists of two (2) participants, who perform the legs in turns.
The participants in the MTBO Finnish Championships relay classes H80-, H100-, H120- and H140- must belong to the class H35 or older and the participants in classes D80-, D100-, D120- and D140- must belong to the class D35 or older. The number mentioned in the classes H80-, H100-, H120-, H140-, D80-, D100-, D120- and D140- is the added minimum age of the competitors, which is counted according to the year of birth.

Distances and terrain
Distances according to the Finnish Orienteering Federation rules on both competition days. The terrain is fast ridge terrain with lots of trails.

Enrolment
Entries and payments should be made through the Finnish Orienteering Federation’s IRMA-system on Thursday 15th August at 24.00 at the latest. If you don’t compete for a Finnish club, please follow the instructions for foreign participants: https://www.suunnistusliitto.fi/irma/irma-instruction-for-foreigners. At the registration, the EmiTag number must be given together with the competitor information. A rental EmiTag will be reserved for those who have not informed their EmiTag number. The rental EmiTag can be collected from the info desk for the price of 10 € (cash or card payment). The rental price is the same regardless of whether the EmiTag will be used during one or two days. For changes after registration deadline, a 5 € fee will be charged. For a missing rental EmiTag a fee of 100 € will be charged.
The internal order of the competitors in the relay team and their EmiTag numbers must be registered in IRMA before 18.00 hours on Saturday 24th August 2024. A team that has not informed the internal competition order in due time will not be allowed to start. If the team competes in a different order than informed, the team will be disqualified.

Event venue
The event centre is on both days located at the Hiittenharju skiing centre, address Hiittenharjuntie 3, Harjavalta. The free parking areas for competitors are situated in the immediate proximity of the event centre. There is a limited amount of overnight places without electricity for camper vans. Please reserve your space in beforehand (
Info desk will be open on both days from 9 o´clock onwards.
Cleansing of bicycles is not allowed in the event centre (groundwater area). A possibility to cleanse the bike is offered in a nearby hall, which is located approximately 2 km from the event centre.
Soup will be sold at the event centre on both days between 11.00-15.00 hours for the price of 5 €/portion (on Saturday minced meat soup, on Sunday pea soup). The café offers coffee, soda, doughnuts, and sweets. The scouts sell sausages and pancakes.
In the event market area, orienteering equipment, bicycle racks and sports nutrients will be sold, and mountain bike models and geocaching presented.
The Nature School Tikankolo organizes nature themed programme for the kids in the close proximity of the event centre.
Arrival
There will be guidance to the event centre from the main road Valtatie 2.
You can arrive to Harjavalta even by bus or by train. The distance from the stations in the Harjavalta city centre to the Hiitenharju event centre is about 2,5 km.
Training
The training area close to the event centre will be available for independent training from 16.00 hours onwards on Friday 23rd August 2024 and during the competition weekend. The price for the training map is 5 €. You can make your own track with the controls found on the map. There will be control flags at the control points. No punching.
Open classes
Open classes will be offered on both competition days. You can enroll at the info desk on the venue. The price for the open classes is 15 €. Even the open class maps will be collected on the Finnish line on Saturday. The start for the open classes will on both days be after the competition classes. On Saturday, open class participants are allowed to start 5 minutes after the last competition participant. The approximate starting time for the open classes will on Saturday be between 14.00-15.00.
There will be a limited amount of map holders for rental at the info desk for the price of 5 €.
Starts
The first starts will on both competition days be at 11.00.
Start lists will be formed based on The Finnish Orienteering Federations online ranking on 14.8.2024 so, that the best ones will start as the last ones in their classes. The starting spot based on ranking is personal. If the enrolled person does not compete, the starting spot will remain empty. If the competitor is not ranked, he/she will start in random order in the beginning of the class. Start gap within a class is at minimum 2 minutes.
Streaming and GPS-tracking
The middle-distance competition on Saturday will be streamed for ISTV. Participants in the classes H21 and D21 will carry a gps device.
